Megadeth是开创美国Thrash Metal重要乐队之一，由乐队的核心人物Dave Mustaine于1983年建立的，作为一支成功的乐队，Megadeth在全球卖出超过2000万张专辑，连续5张专辑获得白金销量，曾获得7次格莱美Best Metal Performance提名。

演艺经历
1983年的夏天，Dave Mustaine同贝斯手David Ellefson，吉他手Greg Handevidt以及鼓手Dijon Carruthers组建了新乐队Megadeth。
1984年，凭借3首小样，与纽约独立厂牌Combat Records签约。
1985年5月，新专辑《Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good!》顺利得到发行，并且得到不错的评价。夏季，Megadeth联合Exciter在美国以及加拿大开始乐队的第一次巡演。
1986年11月发行了第2张专辑《Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?》，这张专辑日后成为Megadeth经典专辑之一，也是Thrash Metal奠基级别的专辑。
1988年1月19日，Megadeth发行第3张专辑《So Far，So Good...So What!》。2月在欧洲为Dio开场，此后加入Iron Maiden的Seventh Son of a Seventh Son北美夏季巡演。8月，参加英国Castle Donnington的Monsters of Rock摇滚节。
1990年9月24日，乐队发行了里程碑式新专辑《Rust in Peace》。这张专辑是Megadeth最为成功的专辑之一，在1990年的The Billboard200上最高排到第23名，获得1991到1992年度格莱美Best Metal Performance提名。9月份Megadeth与Slayer，Testament和***一同进行“Clash of the Titans”的欧洲巡演。7月，单曲“Go To Hell”被收录在电影Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey原声带中，“Breakpoint”也被Super Mario Bros原声带收录。

2005年夏天，Megadeth开始连同Dream Theater、Anthrax、Fear Factory、Dillinger Escape Plan、Nevermore、Life of Agony、Symphony X、Dry Kill Logic和Bobaflex一起参加了各大摇滚节。10月份，Megadeth来到阿根廷，参加了Pepsi Music Rock Festival。
2006年3月21日，Capitol Records发行一张DVD，叫《Arsenal of Megadeth》，这张DVD里包括了Megadeth的一些现场，访谈以及MV。
2007年3月6日，发行现场DVD《That One Night：Live in Buenos Aires》。5月15日，新专辑United Abominations发行，刚发行就排到第8。
2009年9月15日新专辑《Endgame》发行。
