She soon became a platinum selling artist, achieving an Amigo award for revelation of the year. After issuing 1999's Cambiarás, Malú moved to the U.S. to make her following album, recorded in Miami and produced by Estéfano and René Toledo. Esta Vez was released in May of 2001.
